Thankful Swap

I recently participated in a thankful swap sponsored by Liz. I am SOOO thankful for my family, and so I sent a basket of goodies that helps me keep them safe. Included was Shaklee's Basic H2, one of Oprah's favorite things, 3 spray bottles, and 4 microfiber cloths. The Basic H2 can be used to clean EVERYTHING! 2 drops of it in 16oz make a killer Windex, 1/4 teaspoon an All Purpose cleaner. This is so economical and totally friendly for our environment. I am thankful I don't have to worry about giving my children a cleaner to do chores with! I'll post my Thankful swap as soon as I get it...waiting on pins and needles!

Friends and Fellowship

It's a blessed thing to have friends to share meals and laughs with! This Sunday we entertained the Warners and their 3 beautiful children. They have also moved to this area recently from the sunny state of CA! Nathaniel blogs too, a very fun read!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Our bellies are full, the kids are in bed and the leftovers are tucked safely away in the fridge! We enjoyed a delicious meal tonight of yummy Organic Turkey, Squash Casserole, Mashed Potatoes, Bread and Roasted Garlic. Our good friends, the Ewings, came to join us for dessert which included my mom's famous Bing Cherry Salad, Pumpkin Pie, Brownies and Chocolate Meringue Pie. A new tradition was started where the kids all had a glass of sparkling cider with their dessert:) Jude was licking his lips! Good times were had by all! To all of our family and friends, we are so thankful for you and pray that this holiday season is filled with laughter and love. May God be ever close to you this season and New Year, and the stress and hustle far far away!

SNOW

Temperatures suddenly plummeted yesterday, and it actually SNOWED! More of a "dusting", but snow none the less. Is Christmas really almost here!?!

Also, this morning we got back from piano lessons, and found a bird in our house! I think he must have flown in when we opened the door. A red breasted nuthatch:) So cute!

Greening the World

With all the green talk lately, I thought I'd let you know what our family is up to. We have just started using some great products and LOVE them. They are economical, healthy and work better than anything we've had before. Seriously, I am not just saying that! Email me for more info and I'd love to share with you what we love about them! It's one of her favorite things, and Dr. Oz recommends it for staying young!

I have also started a new blog to review products and talk about our family's green journey. Check it out: Mama Goes Green. Have fun, and think of a way you can take another step towards green.

New baby playground in Damascus

We got a new baby-friendly playground in Damascus this month. It has a great big 2 thumbs up from baby Jude who loves climbing and swinging solo in the aerodynamic baby swings! It's a great walk for us to the playground, and is all sorts of fun!

FRANK HAS A JOB

Frank has officially started his new job! Thanks for all the prayers, keep praying, because this job is comission only! We asked God to provide, and said we trusted Him.....and He's not letting us off the hook! Our verse of encouragement is:

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, `What will we eat?' or `What will we drink?' or `What will we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (Matthew 6:25-34)

It's hard to really grab onto this in the society we live in that is so concerned with grabbing more clothes, more things, bigger houses and more money. We know this is what God's trying to teach us, but it is so built into our flesh, that it takes every ounce of His strength to live like this.

Friends

Have you heard the saying, "The best mirror is an old friend"? This is such a true statement in my life, especially with my best friend Lindsay. I have been such a bad friend lately because I have been wrapped up in my own life. Lindsay is always proactive in taking a true interest in what's going on with me and my family, and is a great encouragement. I can't say the same about myself. This is really true with everyone in my life lately. This year has been great for our immediate family, we have grown closer and stronger, and found out was important to us. Definately my friend is in the top list. I am sorry friend for my lack of sensitivity and effort to encourage you.

The mood of my life right now is one of introspection and trying to grow personally. Some call it self-improvement, but I can only say that I am praying and asking God to show me how to grow as a Christian, a wife, a mother, a friend and a contributor to this society & world. The bible says to take the log out of your own eye before you go picking specks out of others' eyes. This basically sums up how my heart is growing right now. Gotta start cleaning house, and leaving only room for the good!
